Stefan Furrer is a Senior Research Investigator for Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing, working in the Science & Technology department. He graduated from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences with a degree in Chemical Engineering & Organic Chemistry and also holds an MSc degree in Cheminformatics from Indiana University. His expertise has expanded significantly through his over 25 years of experience at Givaudan.

Beginning with a focus in organic chemistry of aroma molecules, he then shifted his sights towards ingredient discovery for taste modulation and sensates, acquiring a comprehensive view of the flavour research landscape. Currently his main research focus is on developing machine learning, data science and cheminformatics tools to support the discovery of unique ingredients.

Stefan leads a dedicated research team, constantly evaluating and implementing state-of-the-art research methodologies to support Givaudan’s ingredient discovery initiatives in the areas of taste and wellness. He fosters strategic external collaborations to complement the Company’s internal research capabilities.

With his extensive expertise in organic chemistry and cheminformatics, Stefan will take you on a data-driven journey to discover new ingredients that can support successful sugar reduction while still satisfying the consumer sweet tooth.
