Vernier, Switzerland
Givaudan’s first production site located at its headquarters in Vernier, Switzerland, is a historical landmark for our Company. With more than 100 years of production expertise under its umbrella, our site in Vernier is specialised in the mass production of fragrance compounds and fragrance ingredients, like Ambrofix™.
Vernier is the first Givaudan site and one of the first of the fragrance industry worldwide to receive the ISO 14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management.
This certification is the official recognition of years, sound business practices and investments to control environmental impacts by reducing solvent usage, waste generation, emissions into the atmosphere and into the water.

Moreover, Vernier has been generating its own energy on-site through a 1,428 m2 solar installation with a capacity of 187 kWh. The site reached 100% renewable electricity in 2007, further reinforcing the Company’s long-standing commitment and legacy of action.

Sant Celoni, Spain
Our flagship site for the production of high-quality ingredients is located in Sant Celoni, Spain.
With a strong focus on manufacturing fragrance molecules for our perfumers and for Givaudan’s Fragrance Ingredients Business, our site in Sant Celoni is equipped with the latest technology and automated systems to effectively produce ingredients in large volumes. Florhydral™, one of the most widely used fragrance molecules globally and one of our key readily biodegradable white floral molecule, is manufactured at Sant Celoni for Givaudan’s global use.
Being our flagship site in Europe underpinning Givaudan’s ingredient production capabilities, our investments in ingredient experts and sophisticated technology enables this site to manufacture fragrance ingredients with a strong focus on sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
By maximising the use of renewable energy through the unique HyCool technology, we aim to minimise greenhouses gas emissions at this site. The focus of this innovative technology is to develop cost-effective solutions using solar heat for industrial purposes.
At its full scale, it is anticipated that HyCool technology will generate a 25% electricity reduction for refrigeration and a 6% natural gas reduction, driving a total carbon footprint reduction of 7%.
