Givaudan proudly introduces its state-of-the-art Fine Fragrance Creative Centre, L’Appartement 125, in the heart of Shanghai, setting a bold, new standard for the region’s fragrance development.

The pioneering venture promises to connect Givaudan’s network of perfumers with Chinese brands and in turn, foster the co-creation of tomorrow’s most beloved fine fragrances. In line with Givaudan’s 2025 strategy, the move will no doubt strengthen the Company’s industry leadership on both a regional and global scale, partly by facilitating a unique, comprehensive understanding of China’s dynamic market and its evolving consumer demands.
As for the team leading the creative charge on-site, Global Head of Fine Fragrances, Xavier Renard, notes: “A dedicated fine fragrance team, starting with talented perfumer Jasmine Liu, will be permanently established in Shanghai, working in close connection with our global fine fragrance team. We will make sure these collaborations will generate new ideas and concepts allowing us to push the boundaries of fine fragrance even further.”
A next-generation, creative playground and incubator of innovation, L’Appartement 125 is set to offer a vibrant events calendar to engage with local talent, from hosting workshops and training sessions to insightful fragrance exhibitions.

Technology meets craftsmanship: L’Appartement 125’s purpose-driven design
A harmonious blend of cutting-edge technology with time-honoured craftsmanship, the architectural design of L’Appartement 125 echoes Givaudan’s essence as a 250-year-old company ever pushing the boundaries of innovation.
As summed up by Xavier Renard: “The design of L’Appartement 125 reflects Givaudan’s essence – an invisible dialogue between the modernity and the tradition. This space is a testament to our commitment to innovation and collaboration, where fine fragrance perfumers and customers can co-create fragrances that tell unique stories.”
Designed by celebrated Chinese designer Mr Ma Wen and situated in Shanghai’s former French Concession, the Creative Centre seamlessly fuses tradition with modernity thanks to its minimalistic and biophilic characteristics.
Natural elements mingle with Chinese aesthetics to foster a sense of calm that gives way to imaginative inspiration. All in all, L’Appartement 125’s functional and innovative design undertakes to make the creative process both enjoyable and educational, with a fully operational laboratory, interactive fragrance wall and sensory garden, primed for discovery and exploration.
